Unsaturated Terramechanics

Terramechanics is the study of soil properties related to interaction of vehicles on the ground surface. Unsaturated terramechanics combines unsaturated soil mechanics principles to terramechanics. Research in unsaturated terramechanics is conducted in collaboration with CSU hydrology Professor Jeff Niemann.

Active Research

• Prediction of moisture-variable soil strength using geospatial and remote sensing data products, viz. the EMT+VS soil moisture downscaling model (developed by Professor Jeff Niemann) and the STREngth of Surface Soils (STRESS) model; funded by the Army Research Lab
